A major 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the Iraq and Iran border region Sunday evening, causing panic among residents. 

The quake was centered about 140 miles northeast of Baghdad, Iraq, and 320 miles west of Tehran, Iran. It struck at 9:18 p.m. Iraqi time.

People abandoned their homes to run into the streets. In the city of Shirin, electricity has been cut off.
